Build a Programme

Travel agents can tailor a stay for their client around our accommodation, whether staying 3 days or 3 weeks. If you are organising a school stay by coach, please see our dedicated page for GROUP TRAVEL. If you are building a programme in our new London centre, please contact us directly for details of activities offered.

Accommodation

All our programmes are based in homestay. We believe our any visit is enriched by cultural exchange with friendly local residents.

We count on a bank of over 300 warm, welcoming, and personally vetted hosts. Our hosts can accommodate 2-4 students who are integrated as one of the family. Read more about HOMESTAY

Workshops

Our providers are qualified, enthusiastic, and have many years’ varied experience. Workshops will be tailored to the students’ age and ability. If group leaders would like to send information before arrival, the content can also be tailored to their schoolwork or trip itinerary.

We enable students to maximise their immersive cultural experience via a series of scenario-based discussions designed to highlight local culture. This also serves to increase the students' confidence in using English.
Workshops are based at the University of Chester, Riverside Campus these are outstanding, modern facilities. The Linguastay head office is based at the same premises, allowing us to ensure a smooth process as well as to come and say ‘hello’.

There is a café onsite where group leaders can relax, plan, and supervise their students. The fantastic city-centre location is a 5-minute walk from both the High Street and coach parking.

"The workshops made our stay even more special."

Our students had a lot of variety this week. One group created stories about Christmas. Other students had to design a weekend break in Liverpool to sell to their classmates.

The great thing was that although the workshops were culture based, the students still came out with a bank of new expressions like “happy as a lark” or “cool as a cucumber”. It was a truly fantastic encounter with the Linguastay team.

School Integration

Our partner international school, with whom we have been working since its inception, has a holistic approach to nurturing rounded, inquisitive, and globally minded learners.
Following a welcome and ice breaker session in the morning, overseas student are allocated buddies. They join a full or half day of timetabling at our partner school. They are accompanied in lessons by their buddies.

One-to-one communication opportunities present themselves throughout the day, as the students take part in study sessions and breakout activities. They get to know their buddies and discover common interests.

We also offer half-day enrichment activities at our partner school

Drama

Our drama instructor, a local actor with vast teaching experience, takes students through various building blocks from the initial ice breakers to warm students up, to fully fledged sketches of their own devising.

The instructor is an expert in encouraging even the most reserved students. Students are inspired by prompts such as a piece of music and the instructor ensures lots of dialogue is incorporated. The end result, already impressive in the students’ second language, is often surprising, amusing, or even moving!

Other Available Activities

Cricket Initiation

Led by qualified instructors, cricket sessions take place in Boughton, a 25-minute walk or 5-minute drive from Chester city centre. The session builds active listening skills as students focus on the coaches’ instructions. Students take part in drills, developing skills to build up to matches.

Circus Skills

This activity teaches, more often than not, a completely new skill to our students. They and their teachers tell us they are amazed by what they learn in a short time. Students must concentrate on complex instructions and work together to master the activities. They become familiarised with names of equipment, building new vocabulary.

Cookery Workshop

Led by a local professional caterer, the cookery workshops take place in central locations. Each student makes their own traditional British treat to enjoy with their peers. Following complex, time-sensitive instructions, these sessions help them build vocabulary. Host families often tell us that students are excited to relate this experience.

Theatre Workshop

Students devise and perform a play (based on a story from their own culture or on local English traditions) over the course of one day: activities include props, costume and scenery design, music, movement and vocal performance.

Students rehearse and perform to the general public (street performance or in a shopping centre). This activity has so much variety, students build confidence and have truly unforgettable experience.

Street dance

Students follow fast paced step-by-step instructions and build up to mini performance. Students have to concentrate and listen carefully in order to be able to express themselves creatively. The instructor goes from group to group, explaining steps in more detail to individuals who have to ask for very precise clarification. This is an excellent opportunity for students to realise that precision in language learning is vital.

Excursions
